LinStool is the world’s first piece of furniture made from Strumber Flax lumber. The project explores new material directions - flax, like hemp, absorbs several times more CO₂ than forests, and its structure gives the furniture a distinctive, natural finish. The unique properties of flax make it a perfect fit for our vision of sustainable design.
The piece was developed as part of the ReHemptation collection, designed by Husarska Design Studio and crafted by BHM Unique Interiors. LinStool was first presented during Milan Design Week in April 2025, where it drew significant attention. It confirms that the Strumber material can be adapted depending on the plant source, opening the door to further applications.
LinStool was developed to test how our stool design could gain new expression through an innovative flax-based material. The project set out to:
LinStool is the world’s first piece of furniture made from Strumber Flax, a groundbreaking material derived from flax fibers. Like hemp, flax absorbs several times more CO₂ than forests, making it a highly regenerative resource. Its delicate micro-structure gives the furniture a soft, elegant texture distinct from the deeper, more expressive pattern of Strumber Hemp. By adopting flax as a new material direction, LinStool demonstrates how diverse annual plants can expand the possibilities of sustainable design while replacing the environmental burden of traditional wood.

The stool uses the same proven, ergonomic geometry as the HempStool, retaining its minimalist silhouette, intuitive assembly, and user-friendly proportions. Yet the switch to Strumber Flax gives the piece an entirely new character: lighter in appearance, subtly textured, and visually calm. Designed by Husarska Design Studio and crafted by BHM Unique Interiors, the manufacturing process highlights the fine grain of flax fibers while ensuring durability and consistency. LinStool proves that form can remain constant while material innovation reshapes the emotional experience of the furniture.
LinStool premiered at Milan Design Week 2025, where it immediately drew attention for its understated elegance and pioneering material. It was later showcased at Warsaw Home 2025 and at the Furnitech 2025 fair, further establishing Strumber Flax as a credible, scalable alternative to wood in furniture design. Across these events, visitors were drawn to its gentle texture, its renewable origins, and the way it expands the ReHemptation collection into a new family of plant-based materials.

“With LinStool, we wanted to show how a change of material can completely shift the emotional tone of a piece — even when the form stays the same.”
“Flax has a gentleness that hemp doesn’t. Its finer fibers create a softness you can see and feel, and that’s exactly what we wanted to celebrate.”
“Designing with Strumber Flax was like discovering a new dialect of the same language — familiar structure, but an entirely new expression.”
“LinStool is a reminder that innovation doesn’t always mean changing the shape. Sometimes it’s about changing what the shape is made of.”
