Furnitech Expo 2026: flax and hemp materials for the furniture industry

6.6.2026

This year's edition of Furnitech Expo 2026 provided an opportunity for inspiring meetings and valuable observations regarding the future direction of the furniture industry. We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand and took the time to learn more about materials made from annual plants. The event allowed us to introduce Strumber to a wider audience and discuss how new materials can be applied in real manufacturing environments.

Wood, but not wood?

For many visitors, it was their first opportunity to see Strumber in person and discover that furniture made from hemp and flax can resemble wood in appearance, structure, and performance while being something entirely different. One of Strumber’s key distinguishing features is that it is developed and manufactured in Poland.

Its environmental properties are equally important. Hemp timber production has a negative carbon footprint because hemp absorbs significant amounts of CO₂ from the atmosphere during its growth cycle. As a result, the material can support companies developing products in line with ESG objectives and working to reduce their carbon footprint.

Growing interest in alternatives to wood

Discussions with manufacturers, designers, and representatives of various industries confirmed that the market is actively seeking new and more sustainable material solutions. Strumber can be used in the production of furniture, doors, flooring, stairs, and wall cladding, opening up a wide range of applications.

An increasing number of industry professionals recognize the challenges related to wood availability and, consequently, the need to explore new raw materials. Strumber is one of the solutions responding to this shift.

“The Charm of Furniture Lies in the Details” conference

As part of Furnitech Expo, the conference “The Charm of Furniture Lies in the Details” brought together discussions on trends, technologies, and the future of the furniture industry. The program covered topics related to materials, design, digitalization, and the development of the wood and furniture sectors.

Among the speakers was our Creative Director, Jadwiga Husarska-Sobina. During her presentation, she discussed the Strumber material and how new material solutions are influencing product design, manufacturing processes, and emerging directions within the industry. Participants also had the opportunity to see finished furniture pieces featuring smooth, carefully finished surfaces and various colour finishes.

What’s next?

Furnitech Expo confirmed that interest in alternative materials for the furniture industry continues to grow. We returned from the event with numerous new contacts, ongoing business discussions, and additional orders that will soon move into production. New partnerships are particularly important to us, as they will support the further expansion of Strumber across European markets.

We will continue to share updates about upcoming events where you can see Strumber in person and meet our team through our social media channels and newsletter.
