From April 7–13, 2025, during Milan Design Week at the Isola Design Festival, we presented the ReHemptation furniture collection. It was a unique opportunity to showcase an innovative approach to design and sustainable production — and to introduce the world’s first furniture made from flax lumber.
ReHemptation was created as a manifesto exploring the potential of annual plants — both in terms of aesthetics and environmental impact. Plants such as industrial hemp and flax absorb four to five times more CO₂ than forests. The result is Strumber — a high-strength, visually appealing material that can successfully replace wood in the production of furniture, flooring, doors, and many other interior elements. Strumber Flax and Strumber Hemp were used in the ReHemptation by Husarska furniture collection, which meets key sustainability criteria.
At the Isola Design Festival, we showcased three exceptional pieces of furniture:
All furniture pieces were designed by Husarska Design Studio and crafted by BHM Unique Interiors. The ReHemptation exhibition sets a new benchmark for sustainable design and opens the door to a revolution in the furniture industry.
Milan Design Week is a time of intense meetings with designers, architects, and journalists from around the world. Our furniture made from Strumber Flax flax lumber sparked admiration and disbelief among visitors. It was an exceptional moment to demonstrate that Strumber can become a true alternative to wood — inspiring new directions in sustainable design.
