Strumber has won the “Sustainable Product of the Year” award at the PLGBC Green Building Awards 2026. This is one of Poland’s leading awards recognising solutions that support the development of sustainable construction. We are proud that our work on developing innovative material solutions has been recognised by experts representing a wide range of sectors.
The jury highlighted Strumber’s potential as an alternative to conventional wood, combining high performance with a reduced environmental impact.
The jury’s assessment particularly emphasised:
◼️ Negative carbon footprint – associated with the use of rapidly renewable industrial hemp, which absorbs CO₂ as it grows.
◼️ No resins or formaldehyde – an important aspect of the material’s composition.
◼️ Reduced energy consumption in production – achieved through our proprietary manufacturing technology.
◼️ Alignment with circular economy principles – taking into account the material’s entire life cycle, from raw material sourcing to the end of its useful life.
As the jury noted, Strumber demonstrates that agricultural biomass can become a viable alternative to wood, offering high performance alongside a low environmental impact. The jury also highlighted the material’s potential to contribute to the development of the finishing materials market.
The PLGBC Green Building Awards is a competition organised by the Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC), which has long supported the development of sustainable construction in Poland. The 15th edition of the awards featured 11 categories.
Entries were assessed by an interdisciplinary jury representing organisations including ING Bank Śląski, the National Foundation for Environmental Protection, ARUP, EPP, Savills, SARP, Strabag, Prologis and Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Projects were evaluated based on their environmental impact, innovation, the quality of the solutions implemented and their social significance.
