Processing and finishing

Strumber lumber can be processed using the same methods and tools as hardwood. For finishing, all commonly used varnishes, stains, oils, and oil-waxes can be applied.
Details on choosing the right saws, cutters, or sanding materials can be found in the MANUAL.

Unique Texture
Strumber is available in three unique structures: linear, irregular, and marbled. Each shows a different pattern created through the combination of nature and technology.
Straight from Polish Fields
Hemp and flax straw—the main raw materials used to create Strumber—come from local Polish farms located near our factory. Our goal is to minimise the carbon footprint, which is why we ensure the raw material is sourced from the closest possible locations.
Negative Carbon Footprint
Annual plants absorb large amounts of CO₂ during their rapid growth. As a result, the lumber produced from them has a negative carbon footprint, as the production processes involved generate very low CO₂ emissions.
Unlimited Surface Finishing
Strumber can be finished using the same surface treatments as traditional wood. It can be stained, varnished, or oiled—both in UV roller technologies and spray applications.
Sustainable Development
Strumber, made from annual plants stems and plant-based adhesives, is biodegradable and compostable. Produced from straw, a previously unused agricultural by-product. With performance comparable to oak, it can replace wood and help protect forests and biodiversity.
Traditional Woodworking
Strumber lumber can be processed using the same methods and tools as hardwood.
This Is Not Wood
It looks like wood, but it isn’t.
Strumber is an eco-friendly alternative to wood, already appreciated by designers and architects.

Strumber is an innovative hemp-based lumber, developed as a modern alternative to solid wood.

It is dedicated to the production of interior and finishing elements. Its sourcing process is significantly more environmentally friendly than traditional forest logging. The material features a natural appearance and a pleasant texture, making it an ideal choice for conscious designers.
